Synod Implementation

2025-2026

Reclaiming the Lord’s Day

As we give focus to “Reclaiming Sundays,” we start with the importance of participating in Sunday Mass. Jesus Christ died so that we may have eternal life; God asks us to worship Him every Sunday (and Holy Day of Obligation) so that we can become the saints that He wants us to be. As Dr. Naughton of Catholic Studies at the University of St. Thomas likes to state, “If we don’t get Sundays right, we won’t get Mondays right.”

April Initiative – Breaking Bread and Prayer
One of the expressions for Christians having fellowship together is “breaking bread”(Acts 2:46). We do this at the parish through hospitality after Mass as well as coming together for the Fall Festival. It is good for families to focus on the goodness of having special meals together, especially on the Lord’s Day.
Activities for April:
Have a special family meal
Learn the Regina Caeli (“Queen of Heaven”) prayer
You will probably have a special meal for Easter Sunday, but what about next Sunday? Every Sunday is a mini Easter, and it is good to have a special family meal together, especially on Sunday. Plan ahead with your family. For example, if your kids in Confirmation or at Youth Group are getting Domino’s Pizza for dinner, make the midday meal the big one (with everyone present). If there is a dessert specialist in the house (or at least someone who enjoys buying them from the grocery store earlier in the week), the Sunday meal is especially a good one to have a special dessert at. Try to avoid any temptation to “dine-and-dash”–perhaps include some elevated conversations (as discussed in March).

Small Groups are here at

St Gregory the Great

Archbishop Hebda’s pastoral letter, You Will Be My Witnesses, sets forth a beautiful path for our Archdiocese: a way for every parish to be, as Pope Francis says, a “community of communities.” St. Gregory the Great parish is taking the next step on this path in Lent by launching small groups designed to: foster personal relationships, build community, and provide formation so we all may grow as joyful missionary disciples of Christ. Each Small Group will focus on the topic of Prayer throughout Lent and move towards other topics after Lent such as Eucharist, Gospels, and Saints

Be a part of this mission: join a Small Group! It’s not too late (nor will it ever be – these groups are ongoing) to sign up for one, so please contact the parish office if you would like to do so. 651-674-4056 or info@stgregorynb.org.

Fr. Matt’s Christian Resource Recommendations

We live in an age like none other, especially with regards to communications. For the faith, we have more resources than ever before. I would like to share my favorite ones with you in the hope that you would also benefit from them. As I discover other resources, I will share them on the parish website.

The Pope’s Prayer Intentions

Every year, the Holy Father entrusts twelve prayer intentions to the Church—one for each month—through the Pope’s Worldwide Prayer Network. This organization works to encourage Christians to respond to the Pope’s appeal and to deepen their daily prayer.

The Pope’s intentions reflect the deepest needs of our world and the mission of the Church. They are born from a global process of listening and discernment, and chosen by the Pope after his own time of prayer.

Here we will highlight the Pope’s monthly intentions for 2026. We invite you to pray with us and to help spread the mission. Share the intentions with your parish, family, and friends. May God hear our Holy Father’s intentions. This we pray, through Christ our Lord. Amen.

APRIL 2026 – For priests in crisis.
Let us pray for priests going through moments of crisis in their vocation, that they may find the accompaniment they need and that communities may support them with understanding and prayer.

March 2026 – For disarmament and peace
Let us pray that nations move toward effective disarmament, particularly nuclear disarmament, and that world leaders choose the path of dialogue and diplomacy instead of violence.
